As believers, we are called to live a life that reflects the redemption and transformation we have experienced through Jesus Christ. However, our conscience, once defiled by the works of the flesh, can often condemn us, making it challenging to rejoice in our ministry of redemption. In this article, we will explore the process of cleansing our conscience from defilement and transforming it into an empowered conscience that consistently rejoices in the ministry of redemption.

The Defilement of the Conscience

According to Jesus, it is not external things that defile us, but rather what comes out of our hearts (Mark 7:15-23). Attitudes such as pride, self-pity, bitterness, lust, envy, jealousy, covetousness, apathy, and fear can defile our conscience, leading to feelings of condemnation and guilt.

The Cleansing Power of the Blood of Christ

The only answer to the defilement of our conscience is the blood of Christ. As Hebrews 9:14 states, “How much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.” The blood of Christ is the only cleansing agent that can purify our conscience from dead works and empower us to serve the living God.

The Transformation of the Conscience

When we turn to the blood of Christ, our conscience begins to undergo a transformation. We are no longer condemned by our past mistakes and failures. Instead, we are empowered to live a life that reflects the redemption and transformation we have experienced. Our conscience is cleansed from defilement, and we are able to rejoice in our ministry of redemption.

A Life of Thanksgiving and Blessings

As our conscience is transformed, we become a people of thanksgiving and blessings. We no longer feel defiled, but instead, we are empowered to live a life that reflects the goodness of God. Our joy and rejoicing become palpable, and we become a holy vessel for God’s redemptive work.

Conclusion

The cleansing of our conscience from defilement is a fundamental aspect of our transformation as believers. Through the blood of Christ, we can experience the cleansing and empowerment of our conscience, enabling us to rejoice in our ministry of redemption. As we turn to the blood of Christ, we can experience a life of thanksgiving and blessings, becoming a holy vessel for God’s redemptive work. Anything and everything we do, we now do as if unto the Lord!
