Introductionย

The Bible verse John 2:17 reminds us of Jesus’ zeal for God’s house, which consumed Him. As followers of Christ, we are called to be passionate about our faith, just like Jesus. Passion for God is a fusion of Godโ€™s Love and His Purposes in our lives. In this article, we’ll explore the importance of cultivating a vibrant passion for God and how it can transform our lives.

The Power of Passion

Passion is a powerful force that can drive us to achieve great things. When we’re passionate about something, we’re more likely to be motivated, focused, and committed. As believers, our passion should be directed towards God and His kingdom.

Jesus’ Example

Jesus’ zeal for God’s house is a great example of passion in action. He was consumed by a desire to honor God and purify the temple, and He wasn’t afraid to take bold action to achieve His goal. As followers of Christ, we should strive to emulate His passion and commitment to God’s kingdom.

The Source of Passion

The word “enthusiasm” comes from the Greek words “en” and “theos,” meaning “in God.” When we’re in God, we’re filled with a sense of purpose and passion. The more we focus on God and His kingdom, the more passion we’ll develop for the things of God.

Delighting in the Lord

Psalm 37:4 says, “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.” When we delight in the Lord, we experience a “desire transplant.” Our desires are redirected towards God’s kingdom and His righteousness.

The Danger of Half-Heartedness

C.S. Lewis said, “We are half-hearted creatures fooling around with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us.” Many of us settle for mediocrity and half-heartedness, rather than pursuing a passionate and devoted relationship with God.

The Energy of Obedience

A pastor noted that sin is de-energizing, while obedience is re-energizing. When we obey God, we experience a sense of purpose and energy that comes from aligning our will with His.

Conclusion

Cultivating a vibrant passion for God is essential for believers. It requires a deepening relationship with God, a willingness to obey Him, and a commitment to pursuing His kingdom. As we focus on God and His kingdom, we’ll experience a passion that transforms our lives and draws others to Christ.

By embracing this passion, we’ll become more like Jesus, filled with zeal for God’s house or the Body of Christ and a desire to serve Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. May we be the most passionate people on earth, radiating God’s love and light to a world in need.
