Introduction
The narrative of human history, from a theological perspective, is a journey from the loss of divine communion to the reclamation of faith. Following the flood, Mesopotamia and surrounding regions became centers of paganism. Yet, amidst this spiritual landscape, God called Abraham out of Ur to establish a new lineage—a “righteous seed”. This covenant, which began with Israel, was ultimately expanded through Jesus Christ to graft Gentiles into the “True Vine,” allowing anyone who converts from paganism to faith to become a spiritual Abraham.
In modern times, this theological journey of redemption from familial paganism or contrary faiths is exemplified by Majji Samuel Megbolugbe. He stands as a prime example of a faith-based seed who, despite his background, chose a path of Christian dedication, leaving a legacy now carried forward by his son, Professor Isaac Megbolugbe.
The Conversion and Covenant of Majji Samuel Megbolugbe
Majji Samuel Megbolugbe, born of a different heritage—his father was Obaro Ibrahim Atikekerejolu Oluyori—made a radical choice to embrace Christianity. This, in many ways, mirrored the Abrahamic journey of leaving one’s ancestral faith for a new, divine call.
Upon his conversion, he adopted the name Megbolugbe, a declaration that echoed the pledge of Joshua to the Israelites: “As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord”. He institutionalized this commitment in Kabba, Nigeria, by founding the Kabba Methodist Church.
The Maternal Pillar: His wife, mother of Professor Isaac Megbolugbe, became a lifelong embodiment of this commitment. Serving in esteemed positions—Iyalode, Iya Egbe, and ultimately Iya Ijo—she acted as the primary custodian of the spiritual legacy established by her husband until her passing in 2003.
The Righteous Seed: Professor Isaac Megbolugbe
Professor Isaac Megbolugbe, as the last-born son of Majji Samuel Megbolugbe, carries on this inheritance, serving as the biological and spiritual torchbearer of the Megbolugbe family. As the Director of GIVA Ministries International and a recently distinguished leader in academic and economic circles, Professor Megbolugbe represents the translation of that foundational faith into a living witness.
GIVA Ministries International & Apologetics: Through GIVA Ministries and his ongoing apologetics work, Professor Megbolugbe focuses on Christian apologetics, promoting the “JesusOnly” gospel, and emphasizing a life of service, grace, and redemption.
Legacy of Faith: His work emphasizes that the faith of the forefathers is not just a historical, but a proactive act of faith, encouraging others to convert from modern forms of “paganism” or self-reliance to a God-centered life, thereby creating new generations of “righteous seeds”.
Conclusion
The Megbolugbe family story is a tangible example of the transformation from traditional constraints to a legacy of faith-based inheritance. Majji Samuel Megbolugbe’s decision to follow the “Joshua Pledge” created a lasting impact on Kabba, and through his son, Professor Isaac Megbolugbe, that faith continues to be transmitted as an active, living commitment to the “righteous seed” legacy.
