Psalm 120, a song of ascent, cries out to God for rescue from the snare of lying lips and deceitful tongues. This poignant psalm reminds us that God is our deliverer from the harmful effects of dishonesty.
The Snare of Lying Lips (Psalm 120:2)
“Save me, O Lord, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues.”
Lying lips and deceitful tongues entrap and harm, spreading falsehood and chaos.
Dangers of Deceit
Deceitful words:
1. Destroy relationships (Proverbs 11:9)
2. Bring strife (Proverbs 10:18)
3. Deceive the heart (Jeremiah 17:9)
4. Lead to eternal separation from God (Revelation 21:8)
God’s Promise of Deliverance (Psalm 120:1-2)
“In my distress I cried unto the Lord, and he heard me. Deliver my soul, O Lord, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues.”
