Introduction

As believers, we are called to embrace God’s vision for our redemption and glorification, trusting in His promises and the victory secured through Christ’s finished work. Franklin Covey’s Habit 2, “Begin with the End in Mind,” offers guidance for our collaborative endeavor with God, emphasizing faith in His promises.

The Power of Trust

We must mentally grasp our journey to heaven, enabled by past grace, and endure the sanctification ministry of the Holy Spirit, powered by current grace. Our hope for eternal life with God is rooted in future grace, based on trust in His promises.

Persistence and Perseverance

Quitters don’t win, and winners don’t quit. God perfects His strength in our weaknesses (Hebrews 11:34). Persistence and refusal to abandon our vision of God’s redemption keep us coming back by faith until we succeed as living witnesses for Christ.

Unfailing Strength and Guidance

As redeemed children of God, we have a source of unfailing strength and guidance: “My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth” (Psalm 121:2 NKJV). Draw on this strength to sustain faith, hope and ongoing perseverance.

Biblical Examples

Moses exemplifies perseverance and persistence: “He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward. By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger; he persevered because he saw Him who is invisible” (Hebrews 11:26-27 NIV).

Keeping Eyes on the Lord

To become winners in the Lord, we must:

1. Keep eyes on the Lord.
2. Look ahead to our promised reward.
3. Persevere through challenges.

By embracing God’s vision and trusting in His promises, we will prevail in our walk of life and make it to heaven.
