Introduction

In the midst of life’s challenges and uncertainties, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and lost. Trouble can come in many forms – physical, emotional, financial, or spiritual – and it’s natural to wonder where to turn for help. As believers, we have a sure and steadfast anchor in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. In this article, we’ll explore the surety of Jesus as our stay in times of trouble.

The Promise of God’s Presence

The Bible assures us that God is always with us, even in the darkest of times. In Hebrews 13:5-6, we’re reminded that “God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.'” This promise is reinforced in Deuteronomy 31:6, where Moses encourages the Israelites to “be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Jesus: Our Rock and Refuge

In times of trouble, Jesus is our rock and refuge. Psalm 46:1-3 declares, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.” Jesus is the embodiment of this psalm, offering us a safe haven from the storms of life.

The Assurance of Jesus’ Intercession

One of the most comforting aspects of Jesus’ role as our stay is His intercession on our behalf. Romans 8:34 reminds us that Jesus “is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.” This means that Jesus is constantly praying for us, advocating on our behalf before the Father.

The Power of Jesus’ Name

The name of Jesus holds incredible power and authority. Philippians 2:9-10 declares, “Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth.” When we call upon the name of Jesus, we’re invoking this power and authority into our lives.

Practical Ways to Experience Jesus as Our Stay

So, how can we experience Jesus as our stay in times of trouble? Here are a few practical suggestions:

1. Cultivate a deeper prayer life: Take time to pray and seek God’s presence in your life.

2. Meditate on Scripture: Reflect on passages like Psalm 46, Romans 8, and Philippians 2 to remind yourself of Jesus’ role as your stay.

3. Worship and praise: Lift your voice in worship and praise, declaring Jesus as your rock and refuge.

4. Seek community and support: Surround yourself with believers who can offer encouragement and support during difficult times.

Conclusion

In times of trouble, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and lost. However, as believers, we have a sure and steadfast anchor in Jesus Christ. Jesus is our stay, our rock and refuge, our intercessor, and our source of power and authority. By cultivating a deeper prayer life, meditating on Scripture, worshiping and praising, and seeking community and support, we can experience Jesus as our stay in times of trouble. Remember, Jesus is always with us, and He will never leave us or forsake us.
