Magnifying God: A Call to Reflect His Greatness
As we celebrate the season of thanksgiving, I want to remind believers and our community of ministry about the significance of honoring God and making Him look as great as He truly is. In Psalm 69:30, David declares, “I will praise the name of God with a song; I will magnify him with thanksgiving.” This scripture highlights the importance of magnifying God, not by making Him appear larger than He is, but by revealing His true greatness to the world.
There are two types of magnification: microscope magnifying and telescope magnifying. Microscope magnifying makes small things appear larger than they are, while telescope magnifying reveals the true size and majesty of something already grand. As Christians, we are called to be telescopes, reflecting the infinite starry wealth of God’s glory to the world.
Our primary duty as believers is to feel, think, and act in ways that showcase God’s greatness. We are chosen to proclaim His excellencies, as stated in 1 Peter 2:9. However, to magnify God, we must first see and remember His greatness and goodness. We must pray for spiritual eyes to be opened (Ephesians 1:18) and remind our souls to forget not all His benefits (Psalm 103:2).
This season of thanksgiving, let us use our celebrations to honor God and make Him look as great as He truly is. May our lives become telescopes, revealing the infinite wealth of God’s glory to the world. As we magnify God, may we reflect His greatness, goodness, and love to those around us. Happy Thanksgiving.
May God give us the grace and wisdom to showcase HIS greatness , Amen.
What a beautiful reflection on our calling as believers! Indeed, our lives are meant to be living testimonies of God’s greatness and goodness. As 1 Peter 2:9 reminds us, we are chosen to proclaim His excellencies, not just in words but through lives that reflect His light and love.
This Thanksgiving, may our gratitude serve as a lens that magnifies God’s glory, showing the world His infinite worth. May we continually pray for opened spiritual eyes and hearts full of remembrance of His benefits, as Psalm 103:2 exhorts us.
Wishing you a Thanksgiving filled with joy, love, and the presence of God as we celebrate His unchanging faithfulness.
