As I reflect on my life, now in my seventh decade, I am reminded of the importance of integrity and truth. Throughout my journey, I have been guided by a strong sense of morality and a commitment to being genuine and transparent. While some may have perceived me as naive or unsophisticated due to my straightforward nature, I have always believed that honesty and authenticity are essential values to uphold.

A Life Without Guile

I have never been one to manipulate or strategize in deceit. My approach to life has always been centered around truth and integrity, even when it didn’t favor me. I have made mistakes, but they have been genuine mistakes that I have learned from. My colleagues may have sometimes questioned my approach, suggesting that I needed to be more cunning or strategic in my interactions. However, I have always believed that integrity and truth are more important than winning or being on top.

The Challenges of Being Authentic

There have been times when others have taken advantage of my genuine nature. A colleague once told me that if I didn’t play people, they would play me consistently, and unfortunately, they were right. Despite this, I have never regretted my decision to prioritize integrity and truth.
