Introduction
In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to lose sight of what truly matters. Proverbs 3:1-8, 13-14 reminds us to focus on the core of our being – our heart. The Bible uses “heart” to describe our inner life, encompassing plans, hopes, thoughts, dreams, and love.
King Solomon encourages us to contemplate the nature of the heart, life, and God, asking: “What should be at the core of who we are?” The answer lies in treasuring God’s Word.
The Heart: Our Treasure and Hope Chest
The heart is where we store:
1. Plans and hopes
2. Secret thoughts and dreams
3. Love and values
The Treasure to Keep
The treasure to keep in our heart is God’s Word. This brings:
1. Length of days
2. Peace
3. Favor
4. Success
5. Good health
6. Vitality
Trust God with All Your Heart
Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Keeping Your Heart with All Diligence
Proverbs 4:23 cautions:
“Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it are issues of life.”
Practical Steps
1. Memorize Scripture (like Simon, the primary school pupil)
2. Meditate on God’s Word
3. Trust God with all your heart
4. Submit to His guidance
By treasuring God’s Word in our hearts, we’ll experience a life of purpose, peace, and prosperity.
