The Purpose of Work: Why God Requires Our Labor

As humans, we often wonder why God doesn’t simply provide for our needs without requiring us to work. After all, animals don’t need to toil to survive โ God feeds them directly. However, for humans, God has ordained work as a necessary part of our existence. Why is this?
The answer lies in God’s desire to civilize us, to transform us into a community of believers that can function as the Body of Christ. Just as Christ is the Head of the Body, we are called to be interconnected members, working together in harmony. Through work, God teaches us essential skills for community living: cooperation, mutual support, and interdependence.
Work allows us to contribute to the greater good, to serve one another, and to build strong relationships. It fosters empathy, understanding, and trust โ essential qualities for a thriving community. By working together, we become a testament to God’s love and redemption.
In contrast, animals don’t require this level of community and interdependence. They are self-sufficient, and God provides for their needs directly. But humans are created in God’s image, destined for a higher purpose โ to live in community with Him and with each other.
Through work, God prepares us for our ultimate destiny: to live with Him forever as members of His Family. Just as God started with His Son, Jesus Christ, and through Him redeems millions to be with Him forever, so too does He use work to refine and transform us for eternal community.
In conclusion, God requires us to work not because He is unwilling to provide for us, but because He desires to civilize us, to transform us into a community of believers that can function as the Body of Christ. Through work, we become part of something greater than ourselves, a testament to God’s love and redemption.
๐๐๐๐๐๐Yes God requires us to work as He Himself works having created us in His own image to work too. Right from creation He gave man the duty to till the land therefore He didn’t allow rain to nourish plant before creating man. Rather the ground itself produced moisture to ensure gradual growth in compliance with His decree.
