Introduction
As I reflect on my seventh decade of life, I am reminded of the significance of faith-based prayers and the concept of future grace. Having walked through various life adversities and struggles, I have come to realize that these experiences serve to connect our ongoing life of adventures and exploits with our ultimate life of ministry. At the heart of this connection is the promise of God’s future grace, which is perfectly timed to meet our needs.
The Throne of Grace
Hebrews 4:16 encourages us to “draw near to the throne of grace, that we may find grace for a well-timed help.” This verse highlights the importance of prayer in accessing God’s future grace. The phrase “throne of grace” signifies that our help comes from the King of the universe, who sets the times by His own authority. His timing is perfect, even if it rarely aligns with our own.
The Importance of Timing
Timing is crucial when it comes to God’s grace. If grace comes too early or too late, it may not have the desired impact. However, God’s promise is that His grace will arrive at the perfect moment, bringing us the help we need precisely when we need it. This emphasizes the importance of trusting in God’s sovereignty and timing, rather than our own.
Prayer and Future Grace
Prayer is the means by which we connect with God’s future grace. By drawing near to the throne of grace, we can access the help we need for our ministry and daily lives. This help is not just about meeting our immediate needs but also about preparing us for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
God’s Perfect Timing
The Bible reminds us that God’s timing is vastly different from our own. A thousand years may seem like yesterday to Him (Psalm 90:4). He sets the times for nations to rise and fall (Acts 17:26) and has a perfect plan for our lives, with our times being in His hand (Psalm 31:15). When we wonder about the timing of future grace, we must remember the “throne of grace” and trust in God’s perfect plan.
Conclusion
In conclusion, faith-based prayers and future grace are essential components of our walk with God. By drawing near to the throne of grace, we can access the help we need, trusting that God’s timing is perfect. As we navigate the challenges and opportunities of life, let us prioritize prayer and trust in God’s sovereignty, knowing that His grace will always arrive at the perfect moment.
