Introduction
As believers, we’ve become the temple of the Holy Spirit, making us roommates with the Holy Spirit who resides in our bodies. This unique relationship calls for cooperation and partnership with the Holy Spirit as He works in us and through us, enabling our lives to be fruitful and manifest the fruits of the Spirit
The writer of Hebrews encourages us to “draw near to God with a true heart” (Hebrews 10:22). This command isn’t about physical proximity but an invisible act of the heart. It’s about cultivating a deepening relationship with God, moving beyond a distant Christian life to one of intimate fellowship with Him.
The gospel of Jesus Christ makes this possible. God’s astonishing and costly acts, including sending His Son to suffer and die, have paved the way for us to draw near to Him. Everything in the plan of redemption aims to bring us closer to God, and this nearness brings joy and glory to God.
God doesn’t need us, yet He offers us access to Himself through His Son. This access isn’t based on our achievements but on God’s mercy and love. As we draw near to God, we experience the fullness of joy and pleasures forevermore (Psalm 16:11).
This is God’s will for us – to draw near to Him, to experience His presence, and to live a life that honors Him.
Reflection:
– What does drawing near to God mean to you?
– How can you cultivate a deeper relationship with God in your daily life?
Prayer:
Lord, help us draw near to You with true hearts, experiencing the reality of Your presence and power. May we cooperate with the Holy Spirit, manifesting the fruits of the Spirit and living a life that honors You. Amen.
