Finding Strength in the Armor of God: A Personal Testimony

As I reflect on my journey, I realize that my faith in Christ was not enough to prepare me for the battles I faced in my career and personal life. In my 40s and 50s, I was consumed by my professional responsibilities, unaware of the spiritual strongholds that threatened to destroy me (Ephesians 6:10-18). I refused opportunities that contradicted my faith, but I didn’t understand the need to suit up for battle with the armor of God.
Through a series of challenges, including the loss of my wife and struggles with my mental health, I learned to seek refuge in the name of the Lord (Proverbs 18:10). God used counselors, professionals, and the Holy Scriptures to help me heal and rebuild my faith (Psalm 23:4). I realized that God’s name and His Word are my place of safety, my strong tower (Proverbs 18:10).
Now, I am learning to put on the armor of God and use His weapons of warfare (2 Corinthians 10:3-6). Through the GIVA Apologetics Ministry, I share what I’ve learned with the Body of Christ. I’ve come to understand that the pursuit of holiness requires daily obedience, which starts with mastering the working knowledge of the Holy Scriptures (John 4:24).
