In the journey of faith, we often hear the phrase “taken off all our terms.” But what does it truly mean? In the context of God’s redemption plan, this phrase signifies a profound transformation, where we are freed from the shackles of sin and the flesh, and reborn into a new life in Christ.
*The Old Terms: Sin and the Flesh*
Before we knew God, our lives were defined by sin and the flesh. We were controlled by our desires, habits, and strongholds, leading us down a path of destruction. These “terms” dictated our every move, leaving us powerless and enslaved.
The New Terms: Redemption and Freedom
But then comes Jesus, offering us a way out. Through His sacrifice on the cross, He takes us off those old terms and puts us on new ones. We are redeemed, forgiven, and set free from the power of sin. Our old nature is crucified with Christ, and we are raised to new life in Him.
*Dead to Sin, Alive to God*
Apostle Paul writes, “We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?” (Romans 6:2). We are no longer slaves to sin but are alive to God, controlled by His Spirit. This is the essence of being “taken off all our terms.”
A New Identity
In Christ, we receive a new identity, defined by God’s righteousness and holiness. We are no longer bound by our past but are empowered to live a life that pleases God. Our thoughts, words, and actions are transformed, reflecting our new nature in Christ.
*Living Out Our New Terms*
As we walk in our new life, we must remember that we are no longer controlled by the flesh. We are called to live according to God’s terms, seeking His will and surrendering to His Spirit. This is the path to true freedom, joy, and fulfillment.
