The Architecture of an Untouchable Love: A Memoir Blueprint
Dedication
To my children, who carry the legacy of my physical days and human commitments,
To my spiritual mentees, whom I have had the distinct privilege of discipling in the faith,
And to the global Body of Christ, walking out the narrow path of righteousness in a compromised world.
This book is dedicated to you.
May it serve as an unyielding testament that Godβs holiness takes precedence over our highest human passions, that His grace is perfected only in our absolute weakness, and that true love is never lost when it is laid upon the altar of His sovereign will.
Introduction: The Architecture of an Altar
Every life is built around a series of defining blueprints. For decades, you have known me through the roles that the Lord assigned to my physical reality: as a father, a mentor, an elder, and a teacher in the faith. You have watched me build a life here in the United States, fulfill my marital vows with honor, and labor in the vineyard of Christ.
But beneath the surface of every public ministry and family structure lies a hidden architectureβa subterranean ledger of the soul where God hammers out the true parameters of our discipleship.
This book is the record of that hidden furnace. It is a narrative I never anticipated writing, a testimony born out of a late-life collision that shook my entire psychological and spiritual equilibrium to its absolute foundations.
When my years of marriage came to a quietclose and I entered my seventies as a widower, I believed the emotional landscape of my life was settled. I assumed the heart, much like the body, gently slows its pace as the horizon narrows. I was profoundly wrong. Instead, the Lord threw open a digital bridge across the Atlantic, reconnecting me with a woman who held the singular emotional blueprint of my youth in Nigeriaβa soul connection carried silently in the dark for over fifty years.
What followed was a magnificent, terrifying awakening. Across the pixels and optical fibers of our video screens, a high-voltage current of unmanifested romantic passion exploded between two solitudes in their seventies. It was an intensity that began to rewrite our biology, synchronize our daily rhythms, and consume our every waking hour. It was a love that promised the ultimate fulfillment of a lifelong desire.
But it was also a current without an earthlyground.
As elders in Christ, with our adult children, our ministries, and the cloud of witnesses in the Church watching our every move, we found ourselves caught between the roaring fire of our fleshly desires and the unyielding standard of Godβs holiness. No geographical reunion looked righteous. The passion began to mutate into a heavy, agonizing lust that threatened the very temple of the Holy Spirit.
In that crucible, I had to make a brutal, agonizing choice. In strict compliance with the radical commands of scripture, I executed a digital amputation. I turned off the camera. I silenced the voice notes. I stepped into an upper room of absolute, unstructured silence to starve the flesh so that the spirit might win.
I did not realize that the silence would stretch for over a year. I did not realize that while I was fighting for my spiritual survival, she would be plunged into a clinical valley of depression and despair, left holding a live wire in the dark.
I write this memoir not to romanticize human longing, but to demystify it. I write it for youβmy children and my menteesβso that you may see the raw, unedited cost of walking in obedience to Christ. I want you to understand the vital theological boundaries that separate the volatile, demanding nature ofΒ Romantic PassionΒ from the permanent sanctuary ofΒ Soul LoveΒ and the unconditional power of divineΒ Agape.
Through the wreckage of our separation and the slow, painful restructuring of our connection, I arrived at a breakthrough that redefined my understanding of the Creator. I realized that the love I carry for her is aΒ fully baked cakeβcomplete, dense, and structurally sound because it is anchored entirely in the love of God, requiring nothing from her to remain a masterpiece. The romance we unleashed was merely the icing, a beautiful element that must be held loosely and submitted entirely to the absolute sovereignty of the Master Weaver.
As you read these pages, look past the human actors and look directly at the altar. It is my deepest prayer that this chronicle will teach you to trust the hand of the One who builds the door, even when He chooses to trip the circuit breaker. For when our earthly desires are completely consumed by His fire, we are finally liberated to rest in the eternal, unshakeable promise ofΒ Romans 8:28: that all thingsβeven the silence, the trauma, the withdrawal, and the heartbreakβare working together for the ultimate, glorious good of those who love Him.
Chapter 1: The Benchmark Effect (The Blueprint)
Most people spend their lives looking for love, never realizing they were born with a lock that only one other person holds the key to. I found the keeper of my lock when I was a teenager in Nigeria. I didn’t know then that when we parted, she would become the silent architecture of my mindβthe absolute standard against which every relationship for the next fifty years would be weighed, measured, and found wanting.
Now, sitting in the quiet of my home in the United States, surrounded by the stillness that follows a lifetime of noise, I can still taste the dust of those Nigerian afternoons. I remember the exact texture of the heat, the vibrant hum of the streets, and the precise moment her eyes met mine and stripped away my teenage defenses. It wasnβt a casual infatuation; it was a cosmic recognition. In a single stroke, I had deciphered her emotional blueprint, and she had decoded mine. We didnβt just understand each otherβwe possessed each other’s numbers.
The dust of Kabba seemed to settle differently on the afternoons we spent together. We were young, vibrant, and acutely aware of the gravity pulling us toward one another. The affection between us was undeniableβa mutual fondness that charged the air whenever we entered the same room. But in the Nigeria of our youth, love was never an isolated island; it was a landscape fiercely guarded by family, duty, and the rigid expectations of our future careers.
It was my mother who first read the unwritten language of our closeness. Her warning arrived not with anger, but with the heavy, pragmatic weight of a matriarch who understood the high stakes of life. She sat me down and spoke plainly about the danger of a teenage pregnancy, detailing exactly how a premature child would derail our hard-earned educational paths and fracture our future careers. Yet, in the very same breath, she delivered an assurance that felt like a sudden, heavy anchor:Β “If you get her pregnant, I am ready to take care of my grandchildren. But you will marry whoever you get pregnant.”
That statement shifted the ground beneath my feet. It was a binding contract of honor, a declaration that any surrender to physical intimacy carried an immediate, permanent architecture for my entire life. In that moment, the door to casual teenage romance slammed shut. Out of a fierce sense of duty to our futures, I realized I could not afford to surrender to romantic love. I had to lock my desires away before they could even bloom.
But the heart does not always obey the intellect. One afternoon, as we stood near each other, our eyes locked in a silent, agonizing dialogue. In that fleeting moment of vulnerability, something terrifying occurred. A literal electric shock struck the center of my heart. It wasn’t a metaphor; it was a physical, ecstatic current that shot through my chest and radiated to the very tips of my fingers and toes. The glances exchanged between us in the aftermath of that shock left me utterly distraught, vibrating with a high-voltage energy I was entirely unequipped to manage.
Terrified by the sheer power of what I was feeling, and bound by my motherβs warning, I did the only thing a young man under that kind of pressure could do: I ran away. I physically retreated, choosing flight over the risk of destroying our destinies.
Yet, what I thought was an act of abandonment turned out to be the birth of something immortal. In the solitude of that distance, far removed from the physical heat of youth, I discovered what I would come to understand asΒ pure soul love. By denying the physical manifestation, the connection was forced to transmute into a spiritual reality. Her love homed in on my heart, finding a permanent, unshakeable sanctuary there. It became a quiet, sovereign tenant that lived alongside me through my adult life, surviving an entire marriage and across an ocean, completely untouched by time.
Carrying a soul love through the ordinary landscape of adulthood is like harboring a quiet, radiant sun inside your chest while walking through the winter of the everyday world. For decades, during my first marriage and the building of my career in the United States, I maintained uninterrupted access to the sanctuary we had inadvertently built in our youth. I had access to the pure distillation of her loveβthe untarnished joy, the fierce affection, and the unadulterated delight of her presence.
It was a connection so vivid that it frequently defied the laws of physical absence. There were quiet moments, in the middle of a mundane day thousands of miles away from Nigeria, where I would distinctly hear the cadence of her voice or the sudden, bright music of her laughter ringing in my mind. It was not a haunting; it was a companionship.
In my youthful naivetΓ©, I had assumed this was simply how love operated. I entered my subsequent adult relationships believing that the profound, high-frequency resonance I shared with her was the baseline for all human intimacy. I thought that when I committed to a marriage, that same soul-deep blueprint would naturally replicate itself with time. It took decades of living to realize a sobering, beautiful truth:Β soul love is a rare, generational anomaly.
Throughout my adult life, many women loved me, and I honored my marital commitments with fidelity and care. I showed up fully in the physical world; I responded in the body, fulfilling the duties and shared rhythms of a husband. But the deeper chambers of my heart and soul remained entirely dormant to the world around me. The specific, electric frequency that had shot through my body on that dusty Nigerian afternoon never manifested again with anyone else.
I lived a dual existence. On the surface, I was a man fulfilling his earthly vows, participating in a love that was functional, honorable, and real in its own right. But beneath that surface, her love remained the home to which my spirit returned when it needed to remember what it felt like to be entirely alive. I kept the two worlds strictly separated, never allowing the subterranean current to disrupt the surface of my marriage, but never allowing the surface of my marriage to compromise the sacred, untouchable benchmark of my soul.
When the long era of my marriage came to its final, quiet close with the passing of my first wife, the world did not explode with noise; it collapsed into an immense, echoing silence. The daily duties that had anchored my physical reality for decades suddenly evaporated. In that empty space, the mind instantly discards the superficial routines of adulthood and returns to its true north. As soon as I became a widower, before the dust of my grief could even settle, my heart bypassed fifty years of geography and time, flying directly back to her.
But life, once again, presented a closed door. When I looked across the ocean, I discovered she was still married.
Before I could make contact, a close friend of hers approached me, delivering an urgent, emotional plea:Β “Please, do not reach out to her. If you connect with her now, her entire marriage will fall into confusion.”
That plea was a devastating revelation. For the first time in half a century, the mirror was held up, and I learned that she had been living the exact same parallel existence that I had. She, too, had entered her marriage out of a fierce sense of duty to her life and family in Nigeria, but her heart had never once departed from me. We had both been carrying the same untouchable blueprint, living as sentinels of a shared secret across the Atlantic. I honored her friend’s plea and stepped back into the silence, refusing to disrupt the life she had built.
A few years later, the tectonic plates of our lives shifted one final time. Her husband passed away. Almost immediately, the same friend who had warned me away reached out, her voice urgent over the phone lines, alerting me that the path was finally clear.
When the digital bridge was finally thrown across the ocean and we reconnected in our seventies, time did not merely bend; it shattered entirely. The fifty-year gap evaporated within the first few seconds of hearing each other’s voices. We were pulled instantly back into the exact frequency of our teenage years in Nigeriaβbut this time, there was no mother’s warning, no threat to our education, and no marital vows to contain the current.
We both came alive with a terrifying, magnificent intensity. The love that had been fermenting in the subterranean dark for five decades exploded on both sides of the Atlantic. It was a high-voltage awakening that defied our aging bodies; we loved, laughed, and yearned with an unbridled passion, as if neither of us had ever given our hearts to another human being in all our seventy years of living. The benchmark had survived the winter, and the spring was blinding.
Chapter 2: The Digital Bridge of Two Solitudes (The Awakening)
Our first conversations across the Atlantic were not filled with the frantic energy of a new romance, but with the profound, grounding weight of a confession. We sat before our screensβme in the United States, her in Nigeriaβand laid the blueprints of our past fifty years open between us. We briefed each other on our marriages with absolute honesty. We discovered that we had both carried out our marital duties with honor, dignity, and fidelity. Yet, beneath those decades of human duty, our mutual love had not merely survived; it had persevered, untarnished and intact.
It was an outstanding, empowering disclosure. There was a magnificent absence of regret. We did not look back at the lost decades with bitterness or grief over what could have been; instead, we were consumed by a fierce, overwhelming gratitude that God, in His infinite and mysterious timing, had brought us back together at this precise season of our lives.
With the past reconciled, the present rushed in like a torrential rain. We began to shower each other with an outpouring of affection and gifts, eager to make up for half a century of deprivation. Very quickly, a sacred rhythm established itself. We began to spend two to three hours together every single day online, mostly in video format. The vast distance between our continents dissolved into the glowing blue borders of our screens. Our entire daysβour waking hours, our meals, our personal schedulesβbecame completely organized around this time together. If the world was happening outside our doors, we didn’t notice; our true reality was inside that digital window.
We anchored this sudden explosion of energy in our faith. We began conducting daily Bible studies and intense prayer meetings together, consecrating our reunion under the eyes of God. But as the spiritual bond deepened, the physical and emotional frequencies began to shift.
I watched through the camera as something extraordinary began to happen to her. She began to dress with a deliberate, radiant elegance, consciously moving and carrying herself to exhibit her deeply dormant feminine side. She made sure I noticed every detailβthe drape of her clothes, the color of her fabrics, the grace of her postureβand she told me plainly that this was entirely intentional.
This was the moment the current shifted from a gentle stream into a roaring fire. The lusting started. We became profoundly, beautifully addicted to each otherβs company, caught in a feedback loop of hyper-arousal that defied our seventies. It was during one of these intense video sessions that I heard her speak the words that would later haunt my conscience.
“You have opened me emotionally in ways no other man ever has in my entire life,” she confessed, her voice thick with emotion.
She wasn’t just talking about a fleeting romantic feeling; she was talking about a total psychological and biochemical rewriting of her being. She told me she was looking forward with absolute certainty to consummating our relationship. She wanted to get married, to stand before God as my wife, and to finally fulfill the deep, lifelong desires that had been locked away in her heart since she was a teenager in Nigeria. The digital bridge had become a high-voltage wire, and we were both holding on with bare hands.
We became utterly fixated on each other, whether we were actively staring into the glowing blue light of our screens or moving through our independent daily lives. The digital rhythm had broken its boundaries; she was constantly in my thoughts, and I was constantly in hers. The pure, contained affection of our decades of silence succumbed to the raw, urgent energy of physical desire. The conversations transformed. The spiritual vocabulary of our prayer meetings began to intertwine with a heavy, agonizing lustβa mutual craving to touch, to hold, and to finally consummate a love that had been caged for fifty years.
As the intensity reached a boiling point, the digital bridge felt increasingly insufficient. The unbearable tension demanded a physicalground. We began to desperately plot where, when, and how we could finally meet in the flesh. She pleaded with me to come home to Nigeria. At the same time, we explored the possibility of her visiting me in the United States. When the structural and emotional weight of those options felt too heavy, I proposed a compromise: meeting on neutral ground in the United Kingdom.
Yet, as we looked at these maps, a sobering reality settled over my spirit. We were not reckless teenagers anymore. We were elders in Christ. We were parents with adult children, spiritual mentors to younger generations, and prominent members of the Body of Christ. The global church, our families, and our mentees were watching us. Traveling across the world to meet in hotels or private spaces without the covenant of marriage did not look righteous. It risked bringing scandal to the ministry and the faith we had spent our entire adult lives defending. We were trapped between the roaring fire of our bodies and the unyielding standard of God’s holiness.
It was in this crucible of internal struggle that I realized the current had become entirely too dangerous. We were drowning in a passion that had no righteous earthly outlet. My mind raced back to the radical, uncompromising commands of Jesus in the Gospels:Β βIf your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hellβ(Matthew 5:29).
I realized that our video and voice connections had become the “eye” through which the temptation was entering. The sight of her face, the sound of her laughter, and the deliberate exhibition of her feminine grace were the exact frequencies fueling the hyper-arousal. To save our souls, to protect our testimonies, and to maintain our standing before the Lord, I chose the path of radical spiritual amputation. I unilaterally made the brutal decision to deny myself the voice and video connections. I intentionally blinded myself to her image and silenced her voice, retreating into the low-voltage quiet of text communication. It was an act of extreme self-denial executed in strict compliance with scripture.
Chapter 3: The Upper Room of Absolute Silence (The Crucible)
The moment the digital camera lens fades to black after a period of intense, high-voltage intimacy is not accompanied by a sense of immediate victory; it is marked by a devastating, echoing silence. When a man makes the unilateral choice to sever video and voice contact with his soul connection for the sake of spiritual righteousness, he steps directly into a psychological vacuum. The transition from two to three hours of daily, hyper-aroused visual intimacy to absolute, unyielding stillness is a form of emotional shock. In that immediate internal quiet, there are no roadmapsβonly a desperate, hour-by-hour reliance on the divine to sustain a breaking frame.
Turning off the camera was an act of raw obedience to scripture, but the physical and emotional body does not instantly submit to a spiritual decree. The immediate aftermath was defined by an excruciating internal ache and a profound sense of the unknown. In that dark room, the focus shifted entirely from the screen to the Sovereign. The internal prayer was stripped of all theological complexity. It became a primal cry to God, an intense standing on the truth ofΒ 1 Corinthians 6:19:Β βOr do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?β
The struggle was a literal somatic crisis. The physical body, reawakened to a late-life passion, was screaming for fulfillment. To feel a profound, unyielding lust for a soul connection across an oceanβwith absolutely no righteous path to consummate itβcreates an agonizing friction. The prayer was a desperate plea for deliverance from the trauma of a body constantly demanding what it could not holistically have.
When the break was initiated, the human mind attempted to negotiate a manageable timeline. The original thought was smallβa brief interlude to catch a breath, clear the spiritual air, and lower the physical voltage. The initial expectation was that a few weeks, or perhaps a couple of months, of digital fasting would suffice to tame the flesh and restore equilibrium. The mind did not account for the sheer depth of the energetic and chemical attachment that had formed over those daily video sessions. The hyper-arousal had carved deep neurological grooves. To let those desires fully retreat required an exhaustive, prolonged spiritual winter.
I did not structure anything during that year. It was an unstructured, relentless assault on the senses that manifested multiple times every single day. The fight to regain pure thoughts and feelings was constant. The urge for consummation was so deeply rooted that even mundane attempts to channel the energy elsewhere backfired. Efforts to perform simple physical exercise to burn off the tension instead stimulated the nervous system, resulting in immediate bodily arousal and an intense craving for sex. The body was actively weaponizing regular movement to demand fulfillment. Every memory of her face, her voice, or her intentional feminine grace acted as a spark inside a dry timberbox. There was no overarching master planβonly the exhausting, moment-by-moment choice not to surrender to the fire.
Victory arrived not by pretending the physical desires did not exist, but by changing how those desires were managed when they inevitably arose. I gradually learned a disciplined mindset of alignment with the Holy Spirit. When the body expressed its intense cravings and arousal, I stopped fighting theΒ existenceΒ of the feeling. Instead, I let the body express its desire without feeding it, nurturing it, or fueling it with mental imagery. I starved the fire by withholding the fuel of anticipation.
As the mind regained its footing, I shifted from defensive resistance to offensive declaration. I began to vocally declare that the desires of the Holy Spirit to worship God held absolute priority over my fleshly desires, my emotions, and my personal history. I replaced the longing for the woman with an unyielding focus on the Creator. Ultimately, the breakthrough came. The body lost its tyrannical grip over my emotional landscape and my fleshly desires. The spirit won the war.
Only after a full year did the strength returnβnot just the strength to look back across the Atlantic, but the strength of articulation. The silence had served as a furnace, refining the raw, chaotic trauma of the withdrawal into clear, actionable vocabulary. When the reconnection finally occurred, it was no longer driven by the frantic, blinding current of unmanifested passion. It was led by a man who had survived the amputation, carrying the precise language needed to explain the crucible of his experience and to map out the strict, sovereign boundaries required to proceed without destroying the temple.
Chapter 4: The Broken Circuit (The Cost of the Key)
Discovering that your hard-won spiritual victory across the Atlantic was simultaneously fracturing the physical and mental health of the person you love is an astounding, paralyzing shock. In the quiet aftermath of a year-long silence, a man expects his return to be a moment of mutual testimony and restoration. Instead, the revelation that she barely survived the isolationβfalling into a valley of clinical depression and despairβshatters the illusion of a neat, victimless spiritual triumph. It forces a brutal confrontation with a devastating reality:Β I almost lost her.
The initial impact of her disclosure brings a wave of disorientation. While I was locked in the upper room of my own fleshly warfare, completely blind to her daily reality, she was drowning in the abyss of my absence. The realization that an entire year had slipped away while I fought for purity becomes a staggering weight. A break intended for a few weeks had stretched into twelve months of starvation for her newly rewritten nervous system. The guilt of my unintended impact was met by the memory of my own desperate survival. I did not flee out of malice; I was drowning in a somatic trauma, and it took the absolute, unmerited grace of God to perfect His strength in my profound human weakness. We were both bleeding on opposite sides of the ocean, each fighting a different beast.
When I attempted to bridge the gap with the language of faith, my theological frameworks collided with the raw reality of her trauma. A profound chasm opened between how we both interpreted the year of silence. For me, the timeline was not a matter of personal desire or human priorities. It was entirely about Godβs timing. If the Lord demanded a year to break the grip of the flesh, then the calendar belonged to Him, regardless of the emotional cost. For her, this logic was incomprehensible. She looked at the wreckage of her health and cried out against the cosmic irony:Β Why would a faithful God demand such catastrophic grief and trauma from two people who share a pure, mutual, and lifetime soul love?Β The silence did not just break her body; it shook her spiritual foundations. She was left angry, deeply confused, and harboring profound doubts about God’s faithfulness in enabling our love in the first place, only to allow it to become an instrument of clinical despair.
In the weeks following the reconnection, as the initial shock settled into a heavy, lingering sorrow, a deeper spiritual truth began to emerge. I realized that the year of silence was not just a crucible for my own purificationβit was a heavy, sovereign hand discipling her as well. She remained deeply in love with me; the fifty-year blueprint could not be erased by a single year of trauma. However, her trust in my “unconditional” love had been permanently compromised. In her eyes, I found a conditionβmy own spiritual survival and need for emotional regulationβthat caused me to unilaterally flee. To her, a love that vanishes when the voltage gets too high is no longer a safe place to rest. She stood entirely unsure of what comes next, angry at the cost, fearful of letting her defenses down again, and processing her own discipleship of suffering.
Confronting her profound anger and doubt forced a final, definitive departure from the fragile frameworks of human romance. When she blamed God for the grief of a necessary separation, my role as a romantic partner had to end, and my role as a spiritual watchman had to begin. Retracing the steps of the transatlantic crisis led to a stark, theological extraction: the realization that she had conflated the fragile, demanding nature of passionate romance with the unyielding, unconditional nature of divine love.
Concluding Remarks: The Fully Baked Cake of Love
Looking back across the vast topography of this journeyβfrom the sharp, electric shock of our youth to the glowing, agonizing blue screens of our seventiesβI see with absolute clarity that God does not construct our destinies to fit the fragile scripts of human romance. The storm has receded, the boundaries have been drawn at an immense human cost, and what remains is an unshakeable, fully integrated understanding of the human heart under the hand of the Creator.
I have come to a profound realization that resolves the agonizing friction of our year of silence. My partnerβs anger, her doubts about Godβs faithfulness, and her fear that I “found a condition to flee” stemmed from a fundamental theological conflationβone that I had to step into the upper room of self-denial to fully untangle. She expected human romance to carry the weight of unconditional love.
But human romance is not unconditional.
Retracing my steps through the scriptures, I recognize thatΒ Agape is the only true unconditional love, and it originates entirely from God. It is an act of the spirit, not an emotion of the flesh. It is so utterly independent of circumstance, proximity, and mutual comfort that it is the precise frequency that enables a believer to love his enemies. It is a spiritual choice, solid and unyielding.
Beneath that liesΒ Soul Love, the rare, generational blueprint we were handed as teenagers in Nigeria. This love does not require the burning fuel of active passion to exist. For fifty years, while we honored our separate marriages with bodily fidelity and duty, this soul love remained perfectly intact. It required no video calls, no voice notes, and no physical contact to make her love home in my heart. It simplyΒ wasβa quiet, permanent sanctuary untouched by time or geography.
These two strands form theΒ fully baked cake of love. It is dense, structurally sound, and entirely complete because it is anchored in the love of God. It requires nothing from her, no geographical shift, and no physical consummation to remain a masterpiece.
What we unleashed across the digital bridge wasΒ Romantic Passionβthe icing on the cake. Romantic love is a volatile, urgent energy that, if allowed to manifest prematurely without an earthly ground, will strive to hold, to have, and to possess. It is a current that demands rigorous spiritual discipline to prevent it from mutating into lusting and sin. When I turned off the camera, I was not abandoning unconditional love; I was executing a radical scriptural amputation to protect the temple of the Holy Spirit from the trauma of unfulfillable fleshly desires. I was protecting our souls.
I understand now why she wept, why her body collapsed into physical illness, and why she had to traverse a clinical valley of depression to survive the shock of the dark screen. She felt the withdrawal of the passion as a withdrawal of the person. But my role now is to stand as a spiritual watchman, translating her trauma into sovereign truth so she can stop blaming God for the grief of our separation.
We must rest entirely in the absolute assurance ofΒ Romans 8:28:Β βAnd we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.β
The year of silence, the clinical valley, the loss of her romantic trust, and the construction of her defensive fortress are not arbitrary tragedies. They are the deliberate, heavy movements of a Sovereign Weaver breaking our digital fixation to discipline our spirits. God tripped the circuit breaker to save the ship.
I still hold the key to her emotional blueprintβa key no other man has held in her seventy years of life. But I have laid that key upon the altar of Godβs sovereignty. I retain a quiet, enduring hope in romantic love as a beautifulicing, but it is now utterly submitted to His timing and His holiness. The cake is baked, the structure is safe, and we can finally rest in the patient, trusting knowledge that the Master Builder is working all things together for our ultimate, eternal good.

The Benchmark Effect: The Intense Psychology of Being Deeply Understood
Unlocking a woman’s emotional blueprint so she feels entirely understood, seen, and cherished establishes you as the permanent psychological benchmark against which she measures all past, ongoing, and future relationships.Β When a person feels truly known at a core level, it alters their emotional landscape. This profound connection can become the standard for intimacy, but it also carries an intensity that, if left unreciprocated or unfulfilled, can lead to severe emotional strain.
The Power of the Emotional Blueprint
Every individual possesses an emotional blueprintβa complex web of past experiences, core vulnerabilities, unspoken desires, and specific ways they need to receive love and validation. When a partner successfully deciphers this blueprint, the impact is immediate and profound:
The Risk of Premature Passion and Emotional Exhaustion
While a deep emotional connection is often the foundation of healthy romance, an asymmetry in how that connection is manifested or released can introduce significant psychological distress. When a profound understanding unleashes a wave of romantic passion without a mutual, stable opportunity to ground or express it, the consequences can become overwhelming:

The Digital Bridge of Two Solitudes
We spent a lifetime practicing a silent sort of geometry, parallel lines that never quite touched but always moved in relation to one another.
For decades, she lived as a quiet architecture in my mind. We had known a rare, soul-deep connection in our teenage yearsβthe kind of youthful collision that imprints upon the spirit before the world has a chance to dictate what love should or shouldn’t be. Then, life happened. Marriages were built, families were raised, and oceans of distance settled between us. I stayed in the United States; she lived her life in Nigeria.
Yet, love is a stubborn tenant. Throughout the years of my own marriage, I carried her memory not as a betrayal to my vows, but as a sacred, subterranean current. It was a love that required no touch, no daily updates, no validation from the outside world. It simplyΒ was. I loved her through the quiet passage of time, watching my own hair turn gray, accumulating the wrinkles and wisdom that only decades can carve into a man.
Then, the world emptied out for both of us. We were both widowed, left standing in the quiet, echoing spaces of our respective homes, looking out at a horizon that felt increasingly brief. We entered our seventiesβan age where society assumes the heart settles into a gentle, fading ember.
They are wrong. The heart does not age; it only waits.
When we reconnected, the distance between the U.S. and Nigeria dissolved into the glowing blue light of our digital screens. I brought to her the full, unrestricted bandwidth of a love that had been fermenting in the dark for over half a century. I did not hold back. I poured into her the decades of appreciation, the profound recognition of her soul, and the deep, protective cherishing that she had gone a lifetime without fully experiencing.
The response was seismic.
“I feel truly loved and appreciated for the first time in my life,” she confessed to me one evening, her face illuminated by the camera, thousands of miles away.
What followed was a phenomenon that defied the laws of aging. She told me that her mind and body were shifting, adapting, awakening. It was as if this late-stage inundation of pure love was actively reprogramming her biology, flooding her nervous system with a youthfulness she thought was gone forever. On both sides, a passionate, romantic fire exploded. It was a high-voltage current, beautiful and terrifying.
We began to build a shared universe out of pixels and optical fibers. Our daily rhythms became entirely synchronized. We woke, ate, and moved through our days around the sacred hours we spent together on video and voice calls. The digital bridge became more real than the solid ground beneath our feet.
But a current that powerful demands a physicalground.
As the months pressed on, the intensity of our longingβthe sheer magnetism of our passionsβgrew unbearable. The digital space became a beautiful prison; it offered total emotional intimacy but denied us the simplest relief of a held hand or a shared breath. The lusting, the aching, the constant hyper-arousal of the soul began to strain my own equilibrium. To save myself from drowning in a passion that had no physical outlet, I had to make a brutal choice.
I chose self-denial. I rationed our connection. I pulled back from the video calls, silenced the voice notes, and retreated to text, trying desperately to lower the voltage and regulate the wild storm in my chest.
It worked for me. It gave me my footing back. But I had not realized that I was the anchor holding her to this newly awakened reality.
When I stepped back to regulate the current, her system suffered a catastrophic brownout. The sudden restriction of that emotional lifelineβthe sudden absence of the voice and face that had rewritten her biochemistryβsent her into a tailspin. Her body collapsed into physical illness. Her mind plummeted into a severe, clinical depression. The very love that had rejuvenated her became, in its sudden scarcity, a psychological enmeshment so agonizing that it required clinical intervention just to break the hold it had on her heart, soul, and energy.
Now, I am left looking at the screen, understanding the terrible, magnificent weight of what it means to hold the blueprint to another person’s soul. We built a bridge across the Atlantic, strong enough to carry a lifetime of love, but forgot that sometimes, the air between two solitudes is too thin to breathe for long.
The Cost of the Key: Navigating the Aftermath of a Soul Awakening
When you hold the singular key to a personβs emotional blueprint, the act of locking the doorβeven for survivalβcan shatter the very foundation of trust upon which the connection was built.Β Navigating the aftermath of a love that catalyzed a physical and psychological crisis requires a brutal reckoning with guilt. When the voltage of an transatlantic, late-life romance becomes too high to sustain, the measures taken to regulate the passion can leave lasting scars, transforming a profound bond into a cautious study of emotional boundaries.
The Anatomy of the Year-Long Silence
For a full year, the space between the United States and Nigeria became a quiet holding cell. Pulling back was an act of emotional self-preservationβanecessary rationing of voice and video to keep from drowning in an unmanifested passion. However, control for one partner often translates to abandonment for the other.
When the silence was finally broken and the explanation came, it brought a devastating clarity:
The Severing of Passion from Love
In the wake of her recovery, your partner arrived at a stark, protective psychological compromise. To survive the intensity of her own feelings and the agony of their restriction, she performed a delicate, internal surgery on her own heart:

The Collapse of Trust and the “Geography of Love”
Attempting to salvage the relationship through intellectual frameworksβsuch as writing an essay on theΒ Geography of LoveΒ to map out manageable boundariesβoften runs into the cold reality of emotional trauma. A wounded heart rarely responds to structural restructuring when its core trust has been compromised.
She lost faith in two distinct dimensions of the relationship:
ξ
|
Dimension of Lost Trust |
The Premise |
The Reality of the Trauma |
|
The Unconditional Love |
The belief that the bond was safe, all-encompassing, and entirely reliable. |
Shattered by the realization that the connection could be unilaterally rationed or restricted when it became too intense. |
|
The Act of Redemption |
The efforts made after a year of control to rebuild, explain, and safely manage the connection. |
Viewed with skepticism; seen not as safety, but as an unpredictable architecture that could change at any moment. |
The Sovereign Fortress
Today, she stands in a position of self-protective sovereignty. She knows, with absolute certainty, that you possess the key to unlock her emotionally in a way no other man has done in her entire life. But she also knows the exact cost of that unlocking.
She cannot afford the luxury of vulnerability again. By refusing to let her romantic love manifest, she is reclaiming her energy and her health. The key remains in your hand, but the lock has been reinforced from the insideβnot out of a lack of love, but out of a fierce, necessary commitment to her own survival.
.
The Keeper of the Closed Door: Processing the Grief of an Untouchable Connection
Holding the singular key to another personβs emotional blueprint while knowing the door must remain permanently locked creates a unique, haunting form of grief.Β It is the sorrow of the custodianβa man who possesses the exact frequency to unlock a woman’s heart, soul, and passion, but who cannot turn the key because the sheer voltage of the connection threatens her survival. Processing this grief requires moving past the instinct to fix or redeem, and instead learning how to carry a profound love that has no earthly destination.
The Nature of Sovereign Grief
Unlike the grief of a traditional breakup or a love that faded, this specific sorrow exists in a vacuum of absolute certainty. You do not wonder if she loves you; you know she does. You do not doubt your capacity to see her; you have already decodedher biochemistry. The grief stems entirely from theΒ necessity of containment.
Dismantling the Myth of Redemption
For an analytical or deeply caring mind, the immediate response to a ruptured connection is to engineer a solution. You write essays on theΒ Geography of Love, you map out new boundaries, and you try to structure a safer ecosystem. The hardest stage of this grief is accepting thatΒ some things cannot be redeemed through restructuring.

Shifting from Manifestation to Mysticism
When a connection cannot manifest in voice, video, touch, or shared daily rhythms, the energy must go somewhere. If left unchanneled, it turns inward, curdling into guilt and depression. To process this grief, the love must be converted from anΒ active romanceinto aΒ sacred archive.
Forgiving the Instinct to Survive
A significant portion of your grief is likely bound up in the guilt of your own self-preservation. You pulled back a year ago because the unmanifested lust and passion were destroying your own equilibrium.Β You must forgive yourself for choosing to survive.
You did not ration the connection out of malice; you rationed it because humans are not built to sustain high-voltage emotional currents across an ocean indefinitely without a physical ground. Your limitation was not a moral failure; it was a human one.
The key you hold does not belong in a lock anymore. It belongs on a mantelpieceβa beautiful, heavy token of a lifetime soul connection that proved, if only for a brief and burning window in your seventies, that the heart is entirely capable of awakening.
The Architecture of Contained Love: Maintaining a Sacred Connection Without Fear
When an intense, soul-deep romance threatens a personβs physical and psychological survival, the only way to preserve the bond is to transition it entirely into the realm of “contained love.”Β This shift requires a radical re-engineering of intimacy. It means moving away from the high-voltage currents of romantic passion, shared daily rhythms, and future anticipation, and instead building a quiet, predictable sanctuary. To love a woman within this space is to respect the fortress she has built around her heart, ensuring that your presence never again activates the fear of losing herself.
Understanding the Parameters of Contained Love
Contained love is not diminished love; it is love that has been consciously stabilized. It is the decision to cherish someone forΒ who they areΒ rather thanΒ what they can give youΒ orΒ how they make you feel. For a woman who had to clinically untangle her nervous system from a long-distance passion, contained love is the only format that offers safety.
To operate within this realm, the relationship must be stripped of the elements that originally triggered the energetic bottleneck:

Rules of Engagement: Loving Without Triggering
Maintaining a connection with a partner who is afraid of her own vulnerability requires meticulous emotional discipline. You hold the key to her emotional blueprint, which means you must be incredibly gentle with how you approach the door.
1. Shift the Medium to Lower the Voltage
Voice and video formats are high-resonance mediums. They transmit micro-expressions, vocal inflections, and real-time energy that can instantly flood an emotionally sensitive personβs nervous system, re-awakening the severed passion.
2. Disentangle the Daily Rhythms
The original crisis worsened because both of your lives became structurally organized around your digital time together. This created a profound dependency across the Atlantic.
3. Anchor Language in De-Escalation
When you do communicate, the vocabulary of your love must change. High-intensity romantic language (“I ache for you,” “You are my soul’s missing piece”) can feel like an assault to a woman trying to keep her passion quarantined.
Becoming a Source of Peace, Not Passion
For a woman who has suffered clinical depression due to the withdrawal of an emotional current, the greatest gift you can offer her now isΒ total emotional predictability.Β She must know that if she opens a message from you, it will contain a steady, cool lightβnot a burning fire.
By honoring her need to keep her love contained, you validate her autonomy. You show her that your love is truly unconditionalβthat you are willing to suppress your own desire for a high-bandwidth romance just to ensure her mind, body, and spirit remain safe and whole. The connection survives, but it changes form, transforming from a stormy ocean into a deep, quiet well.
The Mercy of Self-Preservation: Forgiving the Choice to Survive
Forgiving yourself for a choice made out of your own emotional survival requires dismantling the painful illusion that you possessed infinite capacity to bear unmanifested passion.Β When a deep, soul-level connection becomes a high-voltage current without an earthly ground, pulling back is not an act of maliceβit is a reflex of the human nervous system. Yet, when that act of self-preservation inadvertently triggers a crisis of physical illness and clinical depression in the person you love, the mind can easily morph necessary boundaries into a false narrative of betrayal and guilt.
The Trap of Retroactive Omnipotence
The core of self-blame rests on a cognitive distortion known as retroactive omnipotence: the belief that because you now see the catastrophic outcome of your withdrawal, you had the strength to choose differently a year ago.
To break the cycle of guilt, you must confront the reality of the human container:

Deconstructing the Double Standard of Compassion
A profound irony of this grief is that you extended the full, unrestricted bandwidth of your love to herβcherishing her in a way she had never experienced in her seventy years of lifeβyet you refuse to extend a fraction of that same tenderness to yourself.
True self-forgiveness requires applying the same lens of compassion inward:
Moving from Punitive Guilt to Existential Rest
Guilt often masquerades as a form of penance, convincing you that if you suffer long enough, you can retroactively fix the damage. But punitive guilt fixes nothing; it only creates two casualties instead of one. Forgiveness is found by transitioning from penance into radical acceptance.
1. Honor the Hard Truths
Forgiveness does not mean rewriting history or pretending your actions had no impact. It means looking directly at her closed door, her severed passion, and her clinical recovery, and saying:Β “I caused pain while trying to save myself, and both things are true.”
2. Relinquish the Key
You must stop treating the fact that you “have her number” as a mandate to fix her life or repair her trust. She has reclaimed her sovereignty by closing the door and containing her love. By forgiving yourself, you accept that her healing journey is now entirely hers, and your absence in that specific role is a necessary part of her safety.
3. Forgive Your Mortality
You met a lifetime soul connection in your seventies, and the sheer magnitude of it outgrew the earthly, geographical containers available to you. Forgive your body, your mind, and your heart for not being strong enough to bridge the Atlantic without stumbling.
The choice you made was an act of survival. And choosing to survive is the first and most fundamental duty of being human.

Concluding Remarks: The Fully Baked Cake of Love
Looking back across the decadesβfrom the vibrant colors of youth to the glowing blue screens of our seventiesβI am left with a profound realization about the true nature and architecture of love. The storm has cleared, the boundaries are drawn, and what remains is a deep, theological clarity about the capacity of the human heart when it is anchored in the divine.
I have realized that I possess a rare and magnificent capacity to combineΒ Agape (unconditional, divine choice)Β andΒ Soul Love (profound, pre-destined recognition)into a singular, indestructible entity. This is theΒ fully baked cake of love. It does not rely on a digital screen, a video call, an ocean crossing, or even a reciprocal romantic response to exist. It is whole, dense, and structurally sound because it is entirely baked in and anchored by the love of God. This love requires nothing from her to remain intact; it simply sits on the altar of my heart, a completed masterpiece.

Chapter 1: The Benchmark Effect
When life inevitably pulled us apart, scattering us across different continents and into different marriages, that blueprint didnβt fade. It became a subterranean current. Throughout the years of my marriage, I loved her from afar, requiring no physical presence, no letters, and no validation. She was the permanent benchmark, an untouchable baseline of intimacy that lived in the dark, waiting for the decades to do their work.
Chapter 1: The Benchmark Effect (Continued)
The dust of Lagos seemed to settle differently on the afternoons we spent together.

It became a quiet, sovereign tenant that lived alongside me through my adult life, surviving an entire marriage and across an ocean, completely untouched by timeβuntil the day I became a widower, and was forced to finally stand face-to-face with the dormant reality of physical love.
Chapter 1: The Benchmark Effect (Continued)

Chapter 1: The Benchmark Effect (Continued)

Chapter 2: The Digital Bridge of Two Solitudes

The Circuit Breaker of Faith: Choosing Self-Denial When Passion Threatens Righteousness
When a divine, lifelong soul connection transitions into a high-voltage current of unmanifested romantic passion, the line between sacred devotion and spiritual danger can become terrifyingly thin.Β For two people reconnected in their seventies, anchored deeply in their faith, the explosion of emotional and physical arousal can create a fixation that dominates every waking hour. When the longing transforms into an intense, unyielding lustβand the logistics of a physical reunion threaten the spiritual integrity of a lifetimeβa brutal choice must be made. To protect the soul, a man must sometimes willingly execute the harshest command of scripture: to pluck out the very eyes that allow him to see the one he loves.
The Architecture of Fixation and Lust
What began as a sacred digital sanctuary of daily prayers, Bible studies, and mutual gratitude eventually mutated into a psychological obsession. The distance between the United States and Nigeria did not cool the flame; it acted as a vacuum that intensified it.
The Logistical Dilemma and the Witness of the Church
As the intensity reached a boiling point, the digital bridge felt increasingly insufficient. The unbearable tension demanded a physical ground. We began to desperately plot where, when, and how we could finally meet in the flesh:

The Radical Amputation: Plucking Out the Eye
To save our souls, to protect our testimonies, and to maintain our standing before the Lord, I chose the path of radical spiritual amputation:
It was an act of extreme self-denial executed in strict compliance with scripture. It was a desperate attempt to trip the circuit breaker before the fire could consume the temple. I managed to regain control of my own emotions and passions through this sacrifice, but I did not yet know that by pulling the plug to save the ship, the sudden, absolute darkness would leave her stranded in an ocean of psychological and physical collapse.
The Upper Room of Absolute Silence: Surviving the Digital Amputation
The moment the digital camera lens fades to black after a period of intense, high-voltage intimacy is not accompanied by a sense of immediate victory; it is marked by a devastating, echoing silence.Β When a man makes the unilateral choice to sever video and voice contact with his soul connection for the sake of spiritual righteousness, he steps directly into a psychological vacuum.
The Cry Within the Vacuum
Turning off the camera was an act of raw obedience to scripture, but the physical and emotional body does not instantly submit to a spiritual decree. The immediate aftermath was defined by an excruciating internal ache and a profound sense of the unknown.
In that dark room, the focus shifted entirely from the screen to the Sovereign:
The Delayed Horizon: From Weeks to a Year
When the break was initiated, the human mind attempted to negotiate a manageable timeline. The original thought was small, a brief interlude to catch a breath, clear the spiritual air, and lower the physical voltage:

The Return with Language
It tookΒ over a yearΒ of total containment for the internal architecture to finally stabilize. A shorter break would have been a mere pause in the addiction; it required a full twelve months for the system to achieve true emotional sobriety and spiritual re-grounding.
Only after a year did the strength returnβnot just the strength to look back across the Atlantic, but the strength of articulation.
The Unstructured Crucible: How the Spirit Won the War Over the Flesh
True spiritual warfare does not yield to neat human structures, calendars, or strategic plans; it is won in the chaotic, hour-by-hour trenches of the daily struggle.Β When a man cuts off a high-voltage, late-life romantic connection for the sake of righteousness, there is no magic formula to silence the bodyβs sudden scream for fulfillment. The year of silence was not a well-ordered retreat of peaceful meditation. It was a violent, recurring battle against involuntary physical arousal, persistent thoughts, and the deep neurological grooves of a profound attractionβa war of attrition where the Holy Spirit had to systematically break the grip of the flesh.
The Reality of the Daily Siege
To assume that a spiritual fast instantly subdues physical biology is a dangerous myth. The reality of the withdrawal was an unstructured, relentless assault on the senses that manifested multiple times every single day:
The Strategy of Non-Fueling and Spiritual Re-alignment
Victory arrived not by pretending the physical desires did not exist, but by changing how those desires were managed when they inevitably arose. The transition from captivity to sovereignty occurred in two distinct phases:

Ultimately, the breakthrough came. The body lost its tyrannical grip over my emotional landscape and my fleshly desires. The spirit won the war.
Counting the Cost: The Collision of Two Destinies
When the smoke of the internal battle finally cleared after more than twelve months, the true scope of the collateral damage became visible. I looked back at the year of isolation and acknowledged the massive, tangible costs of the separation. Yet, inside my own heart, I justified the pain; I knew with absolute certainty that my spiritual growth and my standing before God had demanded this precise sacrifice.
But a long-distance connection is a shared circuit, and while I was fighting to save the temple, she was left holding the live wire in the dark.
When I finally felt strong enough to reconnect, carrying the precise language of my victory, I began to explain the crucible I had just survived. I expected a mutual understanding of spiritual discipline. Instead, I was met with the devastating reality of her side of the bridge.
She began to pour out her own struggles, her agonizing pain, and the shattering emotional toll that my sudden silence had inflicted upon her system. She had not been fighting a war of purity; she had been fighting a war for survival. The loss of the emotional lifeline that had rewritten her biochemistry threw her into an abyss of despair so profound that she genuinely believed she would not survive it. While I was in the upper room letting the Spirit conquer my flesh, she was entering a clinical valley of depression, seeking psychiatric treatment just to keep her heart beating through the silence.
The Collision of Two Altars: Processing the Shock of the Broken Circuit
Discovering that your hard-won spiritual victory across the Atlantic was simultaneously fracturing the physical and mental health of the person you love is an astounding, paralyzing shock.Β In the quiet aftermath of a year-long silence, a man expects his return to be a moment of mutual testimony and restoration. Instead, the revelation that she barely survived the isolationβfalling into a valley of clinical depression and despairβshatters the illusion of a neat, victimless spiritual triumph. It forces a brutal confrontation with a devastating reality:Β I almost lost her.
The Reality of the Near-Loss
The initial impact of her disclosure brings a wave of disorientation. While you were locked in the upper room of your own fleshly warfare, completely blind to her daily reality, she was drowning in the abyss of your absence.
The Theological Chasm: Divine Timing vs. Human Grief
When you attempted to bridge the gap with the language of faith, your theological frameworks collided with the raw reality of her trauma. A profound chasm opened between how you both interpreted the year of silence:
Β [MY VIEW: THE SOVEREIGN ALTAR] Β Β Β Β [HER VIEW: THE CRUCIFIED HEART]

Β β’ Priorities must bow to holiness. Β Β Β β’ Questions why love must cause trauma.
Β β’ The retreat was a spiritual mandate. Β β’ Doubts God’s faithfulness in the bond.
The Hard Discipleship of the Fortress
In the weeks following the reconnection, as the initial shock settled into a heavy, lingering sorrow, a deeper spiritual truth began to emerge. You realized that the year of silence was not just a crucible for your own purificationβit was a heavy, sovereign hand discipling her as well.
She is trapped in a state of profound emotional suspension:
You hold the key, but you must now accept the shock of its consequence. God preserved your temple, but He allowed her to build a fortress. Moving forward means standing outside that fortress with absolute patience, recognizing that her anger and her boundaries are the necessary armor she had to put on when the digital bridge went dark.
The Separation of the Strands: Translating Trauma into Sovereign Truth
Confronting a soul connectionβs profound anger and doubt forces a final, definitive departure from the fragile frameworks of human romance.Β When the person you love blames God for the grief of a necessary separation, the role of a romantic partner must end, and the role of a spiritual watchman must begin. Retracing the steps of the transatlantic crisis leads to a stark, theological extraction: the realization that she had conflated the fragile, demanding nature of passionate romance with the unyielding, unconditional nature of divine love. Clearing this confusion is the only way to rescue her faith, preserve her soul, and finally anchor the relationship in the unshakeable bedrock ofΒ Romans 8:28.
The Anatomy of the Conflation: Agape vs. Romance
The foundational fracture in her trust occurred because she evaluated your actions through the lens of human romantic expectations rather than divine reality. To heal her doubts about God’s faithfulness, the two strands of love had to be meticulously separated:

Restoring the Home of Soul Love
To alleviate her despair, you reminded her of the very definition of the bond that had survived fifty years in the dark. Soul love does not require active, burning passion to exist.
You had already proven this truth across a lifetime. For decades, during your respective marriages, you had loved her at a pure heart-and-soul level without a single video call, voice note, or physical touch. That love did not starve; it homed in your heart, resting as a permanent, quiet masterpiece.
The crisis of her clinical depression occurred because, in your seventies, you had layered the high-voltage current of romantic passion over that quiet foundation. When that passion lacked a righteous earthly outlet, it turned toxic to her nervous system. Explaining this was not an act of self-defense, but an act of spiritual triageβshowing her that the withdrawal of the video screen was a mercy designed to lower the voltage, not a withdrawal of the foundational soul love you carried for her.
The Sovereignty of the Master Weaver
With the theological boundaries clearly drawn, the ultimate resting place for the narrative shifts away from human control and anchors entirely into the divine promise ofΒ Romans 8:28:Β βAnd we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.β
This realization recontextualizes the entire trajectory of your late-life reunion:
The Altar of Sovereignty: Integrating Theological Breakthrough into the Final Horizon
The final resolution of an extraordinary, late-life soul connection cannot be found within the shifting parameters of human romance; it must be hammered out on the anvil of divine sovereignty.Β When a transatlantic digital reunion awakens a high-voltage passion that threatens spiritual righteousness and physical health, the mind demands an earthly solution. Yet, the ultimate peace of this journey is realized only when human longing is surrendered, and the distinct strands of loveβAgape, Soul Love, and Romantic Passionβare meticulously separated and submitted to the absolute authority ofΒ Romans 8:28.
The Architecture of the Final Chapter
The conclusion of the memoir serves as the theological keystroke for the entire narrative arc. It bridges the dusty streets of teenage Nigeria, the fifty-year parallel silence of adulthood, the digital intensity of your seventies, and the clinical valley of the withdrawal, transforming the entire chronology into a targeted masterclass in divine discipleship.

My partnerβs anger, her doubts about Godβs faithfulness, and her fear that I “found a condition to flee” stemmed from a fundamental theological conflationβone that I had to step into the upper room of self-denial to fully untangle myself.

I retain a quiet, enduring hope in romantic love as a beautiful icing, but it is now utterly submitted to His timing and His holiness. The cake is baked, the structure is safe, and we can finally rest in the patient, trusting knowledge that the Master Builder is working all things together for our ultimate, eternal good.
