In the city of Dothan, a servant of the prophet Elisha found himself surrounded by an enemy army, trembling with fear. Elisha’s response was simple: “Don’t be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them” (2 Kings 6:16 NKJV). He prayed for the servant, “Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see” (2 Kings 6:17 NKJV). And the Lord opened his eyes, revealing a reality beyond the physical realm – horses and chariots of fire, symbolizing God’s power and protection.
This story echoes in the lives of two followers of Jesus on the road to Emmaus. They were walking, discussing the events of Jesus’ crucifixion, when a stranger joined them. It was Jesus, but they didn’t recognize Him until He broke bread with them. “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?” (Luke 24:32 NKJV) they exclaimed.
These stories invite us to join the “fellowship of the burning heart” – to experience Jesus’ presence in our daily lives. Imagine commuting to work, school, or home, and Jesus walking beside you. What if you could sense His presence, feel His guidance, and understand His Word?
You can. Just reach for Him, recognize Him, and respond. Like the servant in Dothan, ask God to open your spiritual eyes to see His power and protection surrounding you. Like the Emmaus disciples, invite Jesus to join you on your journey, and let His Word ignite a burning heart within you.
