The Pre-Existent Christ: Bridging the Spiritual and Physical Realms

The name “Jesus” is more than just a title given to a human being; it represents the embodiment of the divine. The Jesus of Nazareth was the human manifestation of the pre-existent Christ, one of the names of God, and a Spirit through whom God created the universe and humanity.
The Pre-Existent Christ
The Bible teaches us that Jesus Christ is not just a human being, but the eternal Son of God, who existed before the foundation of the world (John 1:1-14, Colossians 1:15-20). The Spirit of Christ, also referred to as the Logos (Word), was the agent of creation, through whom God brought the universe into being (John 1:3, Hebrews 1:2).
This pre-existent Christ was one of the Spirits of God, a manifestation of God’s divine nature, and an expression of His character. The Spirit of Christ was the means by which God interacted with the world, revealing His will, and executing His plans.
The Incarnation: Bridging the Realms
When Jesus Christ was born, He bridged and merged both the spiritual and physical realms. The divine Spirit of Christ, which had been present from eternity, took on human flesh, becoming a human being (John 1:14, Philippians 2:6-7). This incarnation was not just a union of divine and human natures, but a merging of the spiritual and physical realms.
Through His incarnation, Jesus Christ became the point of intersection between the two realms, allowing humanity to experience God’s presence and power in a tangible way. He demonstrated God’s love, mercy, and justice, and provided a path for humanity to be reconciled to God.
Sanctification and Sovereignty
As the pre-existent Christ, Jesus has the authority to sanctify anything and anybody in either realm, within the sanctification of the Old Testament temple (1 Corinthians 3:16-17, Ephesians 2:21-22). He has the power to cleanse and purify individuals, making them holy and acceptable to God (Hebrews 10:10, 1 Corinthians 6:11).
This authority is rooted in God’s sovereignty, which Jesus embodies as the Son of God. As the King of kings and Lord of lords, Jesus has the power to redeem and restore creation, bringing all things under His dominion (Philippians 2:9-11, Revelation 19:16).
Implications for Us
The pre-existent Christ, who bridged the spiritual and physical realms, has profound implications for our lives:
– Access to God: Through Jesus, we have direct access to God’s presence, and can approach Him with confidence (Hebrews 4:16, Ephesians 3:12).
– New Creation: As believers, we are partakers of the new creation, where God’s presence dwives in us, and we are being transformed into the image of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17, Galatians 4:19).
– Spiritual Warfare: We are engaged in spiritual warfare, but we have the victory in Christ, who has defeated the enemy and given us authority over the powers of darkness (Ephesians 6:10-18, Revelation 12:11).
In conclusion, the pre-existent Christ, who bridged the spiritual and physical realms, offers us a profound understanding of God’s nature, His plan for humanity, and our place in the world. As we celebrate Christmas, let’s reflect on the significance of the incarnation, and the implications it has for our lives.
