Introduction
“The price of freedom is death.” These profound words, uttered by Malcolm X, underscore the profound cost of liberation. As a courageous civil rights leader, Malcolm X paid the ultimate price for his unwavering commitment to justice, assassinated for refusing protection from Bumpy Johnson’s offer.
Malcolm X’s bravery wasn’t rooted in Islamic scriptures, but rather in the Holy Scriptures. The Bible teaches that true freedom comes through surrender, not violence. Jesus Christ’s death on the Cross exemplifies this truth, redeeming humanity from sin’s bondage.
For believers, freedom from sin requires dying to self. Paul wrote, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me” (Galatians 2:20). This transformation enables believers to live by faith, not earthly circumstances.
In the Old Testament, animal sacrifices periodically redeemed Israel from sin. Now, as living sacrifices, believers offer their lives to God, transformed by the Holy Spirit’s work. This yields an abundance of righteous fruits, showcasing God’s goodness.
The Cost of Freedom
Freedom’s price tag includes:
1. Death to self-interests
2. Surrender to God’s will
3. Obedience to Scripture
4. Transformation by the Holy Spirit
5. Living as a witness for God
The Reward of Freedom
In return, believers receive:
1. Redemption from sin
2. Eternal life
3. Peace with God
4. Fruitfulness in righteousness
5. Joy in serving others
Malcolm X’s statement echoes the biblical truth: freedom requires sacrifice. As believers, we must die to self, embracing the Cross’s power. Only then can we experience true liberation, living as witnesses to God’s transformative goodness.
Scriptures:
– Galatians 2:20
– Romans 12:1
– 1 Peter 2:24

Reflection Questions:
1. What areas of your life require “death” for freedom in Christ?
2. How can you surrender to God’s will daily?
3. What fruits of righteousness is the Holy Spirit cultivating in you?
May we embrace the price of freedom, dying to self and living for God’s glory.
Amen and Amen . Thank you sir
