Why Christmas Doesn’t Bring Peace to All

Welcome to the Christmas season everyone, but not everyone can be truly merry in the affairs and celebration of the season. Why? The Christmas season is often associated with peace, joy, and love. However, the Bible reveals that this peace is not universal. In Luke 2:12-14, the angels proclaim, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” This phrase “those with whom he is pleased” suggests that God’s peace is not extended to everyone.
According to Hebrews 11:6, it is impossible to please God without faith. Therefore, Christmas does not bring peace to those who do not have faith in God. Jesus himself said, “This is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil” (John 3:19).
The Bible also reveals that Jesus’ coming was not universally accepted. In Luke 2:34-35, Simeon prophesies that Jesus will be “a sign that is opposed” and that many hearts will be revealed. Similarly, John 1:11-12 states that Jesus came to his own people, but they did not receive him. Only those who received him and believed in his name were given the right to become children of God.
So, who can experience the peace of God? According to Jesus, it is only his disciples who can receive his peace. In John 14:27, Jesus says, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you.” This peace is not based on worldly circumstances but on faith in God’s promises.
As Paul prays in Romans 15:13, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing.” The key to experiencing God’s peace is faith in his promises. When we trust God and have joy, peace, and love, God is glorified.
In conclusion, while Christmas is often associated with peace, this peace is not universal. It is only extended to those who have faith in God and trust in his promises. As we celebrate Christmas, let us remember that true peace comes from God and is available to all who put their faith in him.
Amen. Truly, the peace of Christmas is a gift from God, reserved for those who trust in Him and His promises. May we all embrace this faith and experience the true peace that only He can provide.
