Introduction
As believers, it’s essential to regularly examine our spiritual health, ensuring our faith remains vibrant and maturing. Just as an electrocardiogram (ECG) monitors our physical heart’s well-being, we need a spiritual equivalent. Romans 12:11 reminds us, “Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervour, serving the Lord.” Here are six diagnostic questions to gauge our spiritual vitality:
1. Public Accountability
Do you openly share your commitment to Christ, fostering accountability?
2. Growth Mindset
Do you actively seek growth through reading, skills development, and mentorship?
3. Half-Heartedness
Do you rationalize lackluster involvement by complaining about problems?
4. Perseverance
Do you turn to God in discouragement, seeking strength to press on?
5. Celebrating Progress
Do you acknowledge and celebrate small steps in your spiritual journey?
6. Zeal and Fervor
Are you passionate, persistent, and empowered in your service to the Lord?
My Taking Action
Reflect on these questions honestly and prayerfully. If you’re unhappy with your answers:
1. Spend quality time with God in prayer and Scripture.
2. Fuel your spiritual fire through consistent devotion.
3. Seek guidance from mentors and spiritual leaders.
Remember, vibrant faith requires intentional effort. No one else can tend your spiritual flame.
