Finding Beauty in the Broken: A Call to Believers

Finding Beauty in the Broken: A Call to Believers

As believers, we’re faced with a paradox. The Holy Scriptures reveal the wickedness of human hearts and the constant evil of our thoughts (Genesis 6:5, Jeremiah 17:9). Yet, we’re also called to love and value every person, created in God’s image (Genesis 1:27, Matthew 22:37-40).

In this tension, we find a profound opportunity. What if we chose to focus on the potential for good, rather than solely on the wickedness? What if we saw the beauty in the broken, just as God does? With benefit of highlights, this was my worldview until I retired. Many called me naive and both friends and families called be stupid. I chose this as a lifestyle. I got injured, cheated, betrayed and stigmatized. God sustained me. Now, I protect my boundaries for my mental health and keep my peace. I believe that God has reward by tendency to always give people the benefit of doubt with contentment, sufficiency and joy. God is ironing all the wrinkles, straightening the crooked paths, straightening places of weaknesses in my life and softening my spirit to appreciate and accept love.

Embracing the Complexity

Human nature is complex, and we’re all a mix of good and evil. By acknowledging this, we can approach others with empathy and understanding, rather than judgment. We can see the image of God in everyone, even in the midst of brokenness.

Cultivating Compassion

As believers, we’re called to love and compassion (1 Corinthians 13:1-3, Colossians 3:12-14). Let’s choose to see the beauty in others, even when it’s hard. Let’s encourage growth, self-reflection, and accountability, rather than condemnation.

Finding Joy in the Imperfect

God finds joy in the imperfect, broken, and wounded (Matthew 9:36, Luke 15:7). Can we do the same? Can we find beauty in the messy, imperfect lives of those around us?

A Call to Action

Believers, let’s rise to the challenge. Let’s balance scriptural truths with compassion and hope. Let’s see the beauty in the broken and find joy in the imperfect. By doing so, we’ll embody the grace, mercy, and love of God, and reflect His image in a world that desperately needs it.

Remember, every person is a masterpiece in the making, crafted by the divine hands of our loving God. Let’s join Him in seeing the beauty in the broken.
