Seeing in the Dark: The Game-Changing Power of a Christ-Centered Inner Life

Introduction

I have always believed in the absolute importance of anchoring my life in Jesus Christ. Yet, when I crossed the monumental threshold of my 70th birthday four years ago, that belief evolved into a radical, unshakeable covenant. I made a solemn promise to myself and to my Creator that I would truly, unswervingly keep my eyes on Jesus.

I resolved that:

• I will trust Him day by day
• I will hold onto His promises
• I will follow to where He leads me

This was not a casual resolution; it was a lifeline. I knew that when my heart grew weak and weary, He alone would give me strength anew. I committed to keeping my eyes on Jesus because I know His words are true. Embracing the biblical mandate of living life as if unto the Lord compelled this deep, singular focus.

Now, at 74 years old, reflecting on my lived experiences and eagerly looking forward to my 75th birthday next year, I can say with absolute certainty that this choice has been the ultimate game-changer of my existence.

The Sanctity of Solitude and Celibacy

To truly keep my eyes on Jesus, I had to deliberately alter my environment. I chose to embrace a life of solitude and celibacy. In doing so, I effectively shut out the deafening noise of the world at large.

The world is a cacophony of distractions, competing demands, and superficial anxieties. By stepping away from that chaos, I created a sacred space where the still, small voice of God could be heard. Far from being a life of lack, this intentional isolation has become my greatest source of abundance. Because of this focus, my peace of mind and heart is sustained continuously, day in and day out.

With the noise dialed down, my discernment quotient has gone through the roof. I can see the spiritual architecture behind worldly events. This heightened discernment has made my obedience to God’s prompts swift and consistent, bringing my spiritual alignment into a state of tremendous, harmonious flow.

The Restoration of Spiritual Sight

The most profound byproduct of this righteous frequency has been the awakening of my spiritual senses. I am beginning to see again in the dark, even when I close my physical eyes.

This is not entirely new to me; I remember possessing this gift of spiritual sight in my earlier years. However, the heavy, demanding ways of the world had slowly blindedme over time. I am incredibly grateful to discover that the sight was never truly gone—it was merely waiting for my spiritual alignment to return to its proper, righteous frequency.

Lately, an extraordinary phenomenon occurs when I close my eyes and lie down in my bed. I see my inner being looking back at me, standing before me as if he wants to talk to me. Through this, I have come to realize a profound metaphysical truth: the inner being is a manifest reality, an inseparable part of our unified self.

When we align perfectly with Christ, the fractured pieces of our identity—the flesh, the mind, and the spirit—reunite. We are no longer strangers to our own souls. Seeing this inner man, awake and ready to communicate, is a deeply encouraging sign that the spiritual disciplines of my 70s have borne eternal fruit. As I look toward 75, I march forward with total confidence, knowing that the light inside me is far brighter than any darkness in the world.
