As believers, we aspire to live a life that honors God, reflecting His character and principles in every aspect of our being. The idea of being “spot on” in godly living – consistently living in alignment with God’s will, without deviation or compromise – is a noble and desirable goal. However, the journey towards achieving this goal is fraught with challenges, and we often find ourselves struggling to reach this ideal.
Why do we struggle so mightily? The answer lies in our inherent sinful nature, which makes it difficult to consistently live a godly life (Romans 3:23). Our thoughts, emotions, and actions are often influenced by our flesh, leading us astray from God’s perfect will. Additionally, spiritual growth is a gradual process (2 Peter 3:18), and we must navigate various temptations and trials that test our faith and resolve (James 1:2-4).
Moreover, our understanding of God’s will can be clouded by misconceptions, leading to confusion and struggles. We may also prioritize worldly desires over God’s will, hindering our progress towards spot-on godly living. The absence of accountability and support from fellow believers can further exacerbate our struggles.
Despite these challenges, we must not lose sight of our aspirational goal. Instead, we should:
– Seek guidance from scripture and prayer
– Build accountability relationships with fellow believers
– Practice spiritual disciplines like meditation, fasting, and journaling
– Embrace trials and temptations as opportunities for growth
– Focus on progress, not perfection
– Cultivate self-awareness and recognize areas for improvement
– Prioritize God’s will above worldly desires
By acknowledging the struggles and actively working towards our goal, we can make progress in our journey towards spot-on godly living. Though we may never achieve perfection in this life, our pursuit of God’s ideal for us is a testament to our love and devotion to Him.
